The DMV Food Truck Association (FTA) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization that exists to enrich and promote the regional food truck industry by serving its 100 members and promoting food trucks to the community. The FTA offers a hands-on and meaningful experience to help advance interns' academic and career objectives. By interacting with FTA members, the Board of Directors, the FTA staff, leaders in the food and beverage industry, interns gain valuable experience in marketing and promotion, association and nonprofit management, and regulatory and legislative affairs. Internships are for a full semester and are preferred to be 12-20 hours/week. All internships are unpaid. ResponsibilitiesThe Communications and Events Intern assists in developing and implementing the FTA’s communications strategies, including promoting members, promoting regular vending opportunities for food trucks in seven jurisdictions, and planning two major FTA-organized events. The internship offers the opportunity to work in a broad range of channels and formats, including e-mail communications, earned media relations, public relations, social media, and website design.
